Summer haircuts!

Heading to Norrtälje, we all (well, Dad, Filip and Alexander anyway) thought it’d be a good idea to get the real Summer-2009-vibes going by finally getting a real haircut! :-)

School’s out!

I no longer consider myself a second-grader! With yet another full school year completed, I’m now looking forward to (two) football camps, summer holidays in the archipelago, and of course, a lot of ice cream! It’s summer time!!!

Winter holidays

Dad and I have spent one week by ourselves at our cottage on Blidö (an island in the Stockholm archipelago). It was my first time ever away from Mom and Filip for such a long time. But dad is a clever dude and found some very basic and very enjoyable activities.

We took long walks in the deepest of forests, played Nintendo Wii, had a lot of yummy food (and “coffee breaks”). We managed to get some homework done too actually. On one of our excursions we saw five deers in the woods. Very exciting!

It was a week filled with very simple living.

Dad also hooked us up on Skype with the webcam, so we had a videochat with Mom and Filip every evening for a few minutes.

I like Rhodes!

I’m on my way to becoming a seasoned traveler to the Greek Islands. We just got back from Rhodes and I’ve had a blast! Filip and I spent a lot of time on the beach collecting beautiful rocks and in the water snorkling. I got to play the Ratchet game on the PS2 for one hour each day, with dad accompanying me.

We went to Rhodes Town a few times, to visit the castle grounds, and to consume large quantities of ice cream of course. The food was “ok”, apart from the breakfast buffet, which was excellent!

Given the opportunity, I’d definitely go there again!

Go check out the pictures from our trip here.

Goodbye Rhodes!

Just back from Rhodes, I feel like I need a vacation! The whole family went to Rhodes for a week. It was a lot of fun!

A nice beach, and a really fun children’s club (“Lollo & Bernie”) along with some really nice weather and tons of ice cream made the last week a blast. Now I’m looking forward to the last day of daycare before the summer holidays!

Awesome holidays!

Police Station

2007 here I come! What a great year 2006 has been for me, and what better way to end it than with some well deserved rest during Christmas and New Year’s. The gifts for Christmas were wonderful (and quite a few). The best one was a Lego Police Station. I also got a portable radio, a walkman I think you call them, as well as a CD player for my room; this means I don’t have to sneak into Alexander’s room to play my music!

Santa Claus was not as scary as last year, and for some odd reason, he reminded me a lot of dad. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion I’ll find out more about all that in the coming years.

We’re spending the last few days of 2006 on Blidö. Tomorrow we’ll be shooting up fireworks! Just imagine, in seven months, I’ll be four years old. Fantastic!

Summer is a party!

I guess you can say this is one the first summer holidays I will have a real memory of. I sure had a good time, and did so many things I’m not sure I can remember them all (hmm.. what was that about memory?).

I got to go to a real circus, and ride on one of their horses. They had a clown there that I talked to, he was a lot of fun. I had a lot of visitors, and had a great birthday party. Mona, Håkan, Yvonne, and my grandmoter ("Mommo") all turned up for the party, in addition to dad, mom, and Alexander of course. I’m now an official (and mighty) three years old.

We made a lot of trips with Katti, our new boat. That was really exciting! On one trip back from Norröra (one of the islands where they recorded "Saltkråkan"), the waves were really high and I got drenched; but I was laughing at it and just had a great time. Anna and Alex were also in the boat as they had come to visit me that day.

I had my doubts about swimming in the sea at first, but after having slipped on the dock ladder and fallen into the water, I learned just how well my life jacket works :-)

I also started speaking a little bit more english, much to my dad’s content.

Glorious summer holidays

Trying to sum up these summer holidays in a reasonable amount of space will be very hard :-) In short, they’ve been fantastic! Every chance we got, we went out with Katti, our new boat. We went to visit "Saltkråkan" (recorded on the islands of Norröra and Söderöra in the Stockholm archipelago), we went to a real cirkus, we visited Norrtälje (a nice smallish town north of Stockholm), we had some nice visitors, and I did a lot of swimming in the sea.

In addition to this, dad and I built an airplane out of left-over wood pieces, and I got to practice som soccer. I also learned how to play badminton, which was cool.

One of the coolest things was to run off the docks and jump into the water with my life jacket on! I also spent a lot of time playing my with my brother; teasing him can be quite fun, specially when my mom and dad hit the roof!

Late fall

When things started to go a bit sour, as far as the weather was concerned, we had the good fortune of going to Thailand with aunt Mona, uncle Håkan, her son Tony (who happens to be my godfather), his "soon" to-be-wife Agneta and their two children Pontus and Jesper. This was Mona’s own present to herself for her 50th birthday; mighty nice of her!

The weather was very very nice, although a bit too hot for someone who had to try very hard to stay out of the sun most of the time. Although I was not allowed to swim in the ocean, my parents took me down to the beach; where we walked in the wet sand, took some pictures, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

My father went for an elephant safari out in the bush somewhere close to a national park. The event lasted an entire day and included travelling by canoe on a river as well as a good meal in the middle of nowhere.

My father came back rather exhausted, but with a lot of nice pictures. Considering how bumpy real elephant rides are, I suppose I am lucky I did not insist on coming along. Maybe next time.

People were so nice! Wherever we went, they wanted to say hello to me. They usually wanted to hold me and run around with me, whenever we went to a restaurant.

My mother was slightly shocked in the beginning, but soon realized that this may be a very good way of getting free baby-sitting :-)

p>It was hard to get away from the hotel employees! This is a picture of me and ‘Tuk’, who usually served us down by the pool; he took all of us on a small sightseeing tour into Phuket town. On our way there, we also stopped by a temple and a small elephant safari where Pontus and Jesper went for an elephant ride.

All in all, the visit to Thailand was very nice; the people, the food (well, I would not really know, but my father claims it was very good :-) , the weather.. everything!

Mid summer

It was time to weed the mice from the men; so, not quite being a man yet, I put on a skirt, walzed around the church a bit, and had someone throw water at me, this is called Christening I am told. The place of this historical event was the church of Katarina on Södermalm in Stockholm; on the 17th of June 2000.

A lot of people showed up for this event. Most of them were unfortunately grown-ups, but I suppose this is a good thing. I mean, had there been more kids there, I may not have been the star of the show!

Anyhow, Lucas turned up with his parents (Richard, his father, even made a movie of the event). And there is one photo with me and another beautiful woman (I seem to attract these quite easily, if I may say so myself); her name is Charlotte.

The event was a huge success. My only disappointment was not being allowed to sample the champagne, but I guess there will be plenty of time for that!

I now have three official names, apart from my much too long surname.

Things are getting groovy. Summer in Stockholm really is beautiful.

At the beginning of August, I was to go on my first trip abroad. My mother and my father took me on a huge boat called the Silja Serenade. The cruise, which took us to Helsinki in Finland, lasted for 36 hours. It was a lot of fun, but very windy. My father insisted on going outside quite frequently during the trip and it felt like I was about to be swept away by the strong winds!

I got to sit with my mother and father at the table in a very nice fish and seafood restaurant onboard the ship, much to the delight of the other guests. My mother and father enjoyed my company at the table tremendeously!

While in beautiful Helsinki, we walked around a lot; had a peek at the local market, and managed to sneak a quick visit to an ice cream and coffee shop! My father insisted on finding a Russian restaurant where he had been many years before with his mother, sister, and brother. We found a Russian restaurant, but I do not think it was the same one.

The food, however, was delicious, and my parents looked like they were enjoying themselves.
