While playing around outside in the snow at school today, I sustained an eye injury. Dad came to pick me up and we went to see the “eye doctor” (S:t Erik’s Eye Hospital). I was rather sad until Dad came to pick me up, but then my mood improved. We had to wait for a long time, then to see a doctor, and then some more waiting. We ended up seeing three doctors and having to wait between each one. But we had some coffee (Dad) and chocolate drink (me) to keep ourselves occupied while waiting. It was an adventure for sure, and there was a lot of blood initially – but it turns out I was very lucky. I was told it should heal within a few weeks, without stiches!
I think Dad put some pictures up in the photo album as well.

Today we had an awesome excursion with school (well, it’s not really school since we have autumn holidays). Although the weather could have been just a little bit less windy and somewhat warmer, our spirits were high and we had a great time walking up the Hammarby Hill (during winter, it serves as a close-by ski slope). When we reached the top, we got our picnic bags out and had a feast. My hat blew off (that’s how windy it was), but fortunately, Mattias managed to fetch it for me. When it was time for bed, I fell asleep without too much convincing apparently

Teddy Bears
Today we had Teddy Bear Day at school! Well, it was actually “cuddly animal day”, but Teddy Bears are cuddly, right? We all brought as many “cuddlies” as we wanted, along with some nice snacks for our “coffee break” and it was a blast. I had sugar glazed donuts with me, and about uhm.. 1.. 2… 4.. 6.. 8.. 9.. cuddlies.. or so. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and something I can really recommend you try.

Chess!
Today we had a visit from Per Brodén from the Stockholm Chess Federation! He showed us the basics of chess, and we’ll be allowed to spend time learning the game of Chess at school. We have entered the Chess4 (Schack4an) competition, in which four-graders all over Sweden are playing in. It’ll be held at the Globe Arena in February and March of 2011. This is so cool. I need to get Dad to show me some moves!
Just a quick note to everyone that I’m officially an “Ettagluttare” (translated: “first grader”) this fall. So far, school has been great. We’re slowly but surely beginning to get homework (mainly math so far). It’s quite exciting. There are a few too many children in our class, but I hope our teacher (Gun) can keep things organized.
We’ll also be having gym class for real, which is fun.
All in all, I guess you could say school has begun for real!
Alright .. 0-grade and 3rd grade handled, done, and over with!
We’ll now be chillin’, swimmin’, and eating tons of ice cream! In a few weeks time it’s Football Academy time for a week, which we’re both looking forward to. But for now, it’ll be a few weeks of being really lazy, and proud of it!
It was to be one of the last organized activities at school before Summer Break, and we made it a blast. We had been practicing for weeks and it was all a huge success. I ended up with whipped cream on my face and a room full of laughing parents and siblings, what more could a clown wish for. After this, it’s just a matter of (sort of) behaving until the closing day of school, which isn’t all that far away!
Today we went to visit the fire station with the whole class. It was a lot of fun! We got to put out a fire, crawl through smoke, and all the other things real firemen get to do! I’m thinking this could be something I’d want to do when I grow up!
Today I guess you could say I took a giant leap forward in the process of understanding the world around me. We’ve been playing with words and letters at school, and today while sitting at the dinner table with dad I was sounding out letters.
There was a bottle of ketchup on the table and I sounded out F-E-L-I-X. Then I went silent and after a while I asked dad if the word was “Felix”. He said that it was, and after some more silence I told him I thought I could read now.
It was sort of a weird feeling.. putting the pieces together. But it put a big smile on my face!
