Christmas 2011

This year’s Christmas was a little different than our previous ones. But it was quite good. Dad came over sometime after lunch, there had been an incident at work he had to deal with.

Once he arrived, we started getting all the food out and the table ready. Dad even managed to put together a Gingerbread house, this year made from Gingerbread cookies since we were a little pressed for time. Under our Christmas tree there were a lot of nice presents for us to open after we had finished watching the Christmas Classic, Donald Duck and his friends.

All in all, and despite the recent changes in all of our lives, it was a good Christmas.

Next week we’re heading over to Dad’s, and he’s told us something about one more Christmas surprise … :-)

2010 is out, 2011 is in!

And so it has come to pass, 2010 has rolled over into 2011! We spent all of the Christmas holidays in the archipelago (is there any other place?) with a lot of fun in the snow, lazy days, and tons of wonderful food and (of course) a lot of candy.

From our Christmas wishlists, we got more than we could have hoped for. Alexander got his long awaited Call of Duty 7 (“Black Ops”) and FIFA 11 for the Wii, along with some other things he’d wished for. Filip got Smurf “stuff”, Kappla sticks, MagStix, Photo album, and Donkey Kong Country 2 for the Wii.

All in all, it was another great stay in the archipelago.

Oh yes, on New Year’s Eve, we had promised ourselves that we’d stay awake until midnight. At around 23:15, we fell asleep and couldn’t quite be bothered to properly wake up at midnight. Oh well, maybe this coming New Year’s Eve we’ll finally make it :-)

Rock on!

Julbord 2010

Well, it’s that time of the year again when the whole family goes to a Christmas Lunch or Christmas Dinner at some restaurant. This time, it was time for a re-visit to the awesome Ulriksdals Wärdshus, where we’ve been several times before. It’s hard to stay away from this place around Christmas :-) We added some photos to the photo album from the visit too (of course). All in all, it was a nice visit with a lot of good food (and just as much candy and dessert)!

On my ninth Christmas..

.. I received:

  • a new electrical toothbrush, quite cool!
  • the Wii games LEGO Indiana Jones 2, New Super Mario Bros, and Star Wars – the Clone Wars
  • the Avatar game for my Nintendo DS

So far, I’m spending a lot of time on the Nintendo Wii with all of the new games. I’ve already finished the Clone Wars game. Mom was a bit surprised, but I guess that’s what happens when you play for several hours every day :-)

Filip, myself, and Dad are playing a lot of LEGO Indiana Jones 2, although Dad insists on calling him “Indy” and telling me that there are some classic movies to be seen when I’m old enough :-)

  • a new electrical toothbrush, quite cool!
  • a LEGO Fire Station
  • a set of Hot Wheels cars and some track
  • the Arthur game for my Nintendo DS
  • a Scooby Doo game

All very cool things .. what’s also good is that I get to play some of Alexander’s new Nintendo Wii games :-)

Christmas without Santa?

In a previous post, Filip voiced his doubts about Santa’s be or not to be. Come Christmas Eve, which is when we normally expect a visit from the white bearded guy, Mom chose to inform us of the fact that Santa would not be paying us a visit while we were awake.

The reason we were given was that Santa’s reindeer were too tired to make it all the way out here (Blidö). Fair enough, but on the morning of Christmas Eve, there was a pile of Christmas gifts waiting for us. So I guess the reindeer or Santa somehow managed to arrange for the delivery! Woo-hoo!

Santa doesn’t live here anymore

Santa Claus

Santa Claus

Today I told Mom and Dad that I’m on to their tricks! I know what’s going on.. I’ve figured out that Dad is the one doing the Santa thing every Christmas. While driving back from a shopping tour, I explained to Mom and Dad that I had some serious evidence to back up the thesis that Dad has actually been playing the role of Santa Claus all along.

I mean.. how many times can it be a coincidence that when Dad goes to buy the newspaper, Santa pops in the door.. ?! One year he told us he went down to the docks. Ok.. fine.. have your walk to the docks.. but.. why does Santa have to show up every time while you’re gone?! No.. I’m not buying it anymore! Dad is Santa. Santa is Dad!

Gameboy Advance

After the 2007 xmas, I am now the proud owner of a Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP. It looks very much like the one Alexander had, I’m a bit suspicious about that, but on the other hand, who cares.. :-)

Santa brought me two new games, and Alexander was generous enough to donate most of his GBA games to me; Santa brought him a Nintendo DS.

We spent the entire holidays at the cottage on Blidö and did basically nothing. Well, we played a lot of video games (GBA and Wii), ate a lot of candy, walked in the woods, and generally just chilled. Dad had gotten us some excellent fireworks, which was very cool.

Also turns out I’m quite skilled at bowling (203 is my current high-score), at least Wii style :-)

Monday morning it’s back to daycare, 2008 here we go!

Farewell 2006!

Hello 2007! As we launch ourselves into the new year, I wanted to drop my last note of 2006 before I fall asleep. Mom and dad have let me stay up way past my bedtime today, since it’s New Year’s Eve and all! We even shot off some great fireworks. Filip wasn’t too keen on them, so he ran into the house after the first few bangs. It was the first time we’ve had fireworks, and although dad only got three or four really big pieces, it was well worth the wait!

The holidays have been wonderful. A lot of candy, a lot of gifts, and a lot of time with my family. Santa brought me a Creative Zen MP3 player, a Stiga Play-Off Ice Hockey game, and some other really cool stuff.

It’s weird that it takes me 1-2 weeks of holidays before I really start enjoying them. But I guess that’s what mom and dad mean when they say “winding down”.

Roughly one more week of holidays, and then school starts. Of course, the most important event in the near future will be my upcoming seventh birthday :-)

See you soon!
